Largest September Snow Dump in Years

Yesterday, the first snow fell in the Alps, and the outlook is nothing short of spectacular. At altitudes of around 1200 to 1500 meters, up to 3 meters of snow is expected in the coming days. These early winter conditions are a blessing for the glaciers, though at lower elevations, the snow will likely melt in the coming period.

In ski areas like the Kitzsteinhorn, which rises over 3000 meters, and the 2300-meter-high Obertauern, more than 3 meters of snow could fall. The Zillertal Arena also expects nearly 2 meters of snow, providing stunning, white views on the webcams. On the Zugspitze, Germany's highest ski area, over a meter of snow is forecast, making it a prime destination for early skiers and snowboarders. The first images already show enchanting snow-covered peaks – a sign of a promising ski season soon to begin.
