Progress on the Schilthorn Construction Site

There's a lot happening at the Schilthorn construction site! The project team just hit a major milestone by transporting the carrying and traction cables for the third section of the Birg-Schilthorn route—as shown in their latest YouTube video.

The heavy lifting was done by a specialized vehicle named Castor & Pollux, which tackled the tough job of moving cable reels weighing up to 50 tons over some seriously steep terrain. On top of that, they’ve also completed the cable splicing for the first section of the Stechelberg-Mürren cable car using a dedicated splicing frame, a crucial step to make sure everything runs smoothly.

The Schilthornbahn 20XX project is particularly exciting because it will feature the world’s steepest cable car, connecting Stechelberg and Mürren.

The Schilthorn is part of the Jungfrau Ski Region, offering easy access to fantastic slopes. Located just about 70 kilometers from Bern, it’s a great spot for an alpine getaway
